Instructions for Use: Place equal parts of OraCare (4 pumps from each bottle) into the cup. Allow the product to activate for 30 seconds. Then rinse for 30-60 seconds.

Activated Chlorine Dioxide (CLO2) was discovered in 1814 by Sir Humphrey Davy and was actually first used as a bleach. In fact, even today it is used for bleaching wood pulp, because it is such a great oxidizing agent! This is also why it is exceptional at helping to maintain white teeth. We have also seen this compound used for a variety of antimicrobial uses, including in mold clean up after hurricane Katrina, and in water treatment systems due to its effectiveness at breaking up biofilm. Chlorine Dioxide is a neutral compound that is effective even at low concentrations because of its unique qualities. It very different from elementary chlorine, both in its chemical structure as well as in its behavior. One of the most important properties to be aware of about CLO2 is that it is a gas. To make CLO2, two liquids must be mixed to allow the gas to be released, this also contributes to the importance of a two bottle system. Xylitol was first discovered in 1891. Categorized as a sugar alcohol, it is often used as a sugar replacement. It can be naturally occurring in fruits and vegetables but can also be commercially produced. It has been approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration since 1963. It is a common ingredient in many products including oral rinses, toothpastes, and chewing gum. Xylitol is sweet in a number of ways and not just in flavor-unlike sugar, xylitol does not feed bacteria. It can actually starve the harmful bacteria that lives in your oral cavity. This in turn reduces plaque, buildup and tooth decay. If plaque is present on your teeth it triggers an inflammatory response from the body which causes swelling and bleeding. Since inflammation is one of the main factors in other chronic diseases, it is also suggested that reducing plaque and bleeding gums could have benefits for the rest of the body. We are asked all the time about the amount of xylitol in our products because numerous studies state the 5 grams is the optimal cavity prevention amount. First, we do not have enough xylitol in our products to equal the 5 grams if you use our products as directed but, using Oracare products can be part the patients regiment to get to 5 grams. Second, just because it isn’t at the optimal level does not mean it is not doing its job of starving bacteria and helping with the production of Collagen. Every time you use xylitol you receive its benefits. |
