We're constantly trying to help patients keep their mouths healthier at home.

Think about your typical patient. The one that comes in about every 6 months and skips flossing here and there, and is starting to get inflammation. What are you going to do for them? We try to help patients establish routines that can help take care of oral pathogens on a daily basis, but not only do many patients struggle to floss effectively- studies are showing that flossing is not as effective as we thought.  Improving daily hygiene can help prevent disease, and disease is easier to handle before it establishes itself in the mouth. A clean mouth is a healthy mouth!

There's something that can help:
Chlorine Dioxide.

Why Chlorine Dioxide?

Chlorine Dioxide (Clo2)
gas/oxidizer
Chlorine dioxide has been renowned in other industries for its antimicrobial properties, and is now transforming patient home care. It has the ability to eliminate oral pathogens and reaches all areas of the mouth more effectively than your standard OTC rinse. Chlorine dioxide is safe to rinse with on a daily basis and does not cause staining, calculus buildup or altered taste.
Effective against:

🗸  bacteria
🗸  viruses
🗸  fungi
🗸  biofilm
🗸  bacterial waste (volatile sulfur compounds)

History
Activated Chlorine Dioxide (CLO2) was discovered in 1814 by Sir Humphrey Davy and was actually first used as a bleach.  In fact, even today it is used for bleaching wood pulp, because it is such a great oxidizing agent!   This is also why it is exceptional at helping to maintain white teeth.  We have also seen this compound used for a variety of antimicrobial uses, including in mold clean up after hurricane Katrina, and in water treatment systems due to its effectiveness at breaking up biofilm.

Chlorine Dioxide is a neutral compound that is effective even at low concentrations because of its unique qualities.
It very different from elementary chlorine, both in its chemical structure as well as in its behavior.  One of the most important properties to be aware of about CLO2 is that it is a gas.  To make CLO2, two liquids must be mixed to allow the gas to be released, this also contributes to the importance of a two bottle system.   As a gas Activated Chlorine Dioxide is able to permeate places where liquids and solids just can’t go.
ACTIVATED VS STABILIZED ClO2
Don't be mislead by the term "stabilized chlorine dioxide". It is actually sodium chlorite. This is not chlorine dioxide and does not provide the same benefits. Since chlorine dioxide is a gas there is no way to contain a gas in a single bottle system without it leaking out. OraCare comes in two bottles in order to create chlroine dioxide with each mix, also allowing maximum benefits.

Why Two Bottles?

It's the only way to create chlorine dioxide. The raw ingredients for this incredibly effective gas must be stored separately and mixed right before using. Simply combine solution 1 and solution 2 to create our award winning activated rinse.
